Six Year Old's Nightmare

Momma and Daddy just split up today,
Said they can’t cut it no more

Said they’d be headin’ their separate ways,
said marriage had become a chore

Heard Daddy say he has new tracks to lay,
what in the world does that mean?

Guess you could say I got lost in the fray,
but Daddy says he still loves me.

said they deserve a new life,

Heard Momm say, “selfish, lazy, he’d pay”,
Heard Daddy say, “less than a wife”.

Heard Momma say that his way is obscene,
what in the world does that mean?

With red face and eyes, I heard Daddy deny,
I’ve never seen him look so mean.

Momma and Daddy just split up today,
He’s moving down to Tennessee,

Said he would see me whenever he may,
what in the world does that mean?

What is this new lump I feel in my throat?,
will it ever go away?

Never knew nerves in my tummy could hurt,
Learn something new everyday.

Said they are no longer up to the fight,
Heard money but is it really me?
